2026 WCQ: Chelle drafts late replacements for two injured Super Eagles stars

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has announced replacements for two stars ahead of the final round of qualification games for the 2026 World Cup.

The Super Eagles will face Lesotho and Benin Republic on October 10 and October 14 respectively.

Chelle unveiled his 23-man squad for the encounters on Friday.

However, late injuries to Cyril Dessers and Bright Osayi-Samuel have caused a change in the squad.

Dessers has been replaced by Uche Christantus and Osayi-Samuel by Zaidu Sanusi.

With 11 points, Nigeria currently sit in third place in Group C.

Benin Republic and South Africa occupy the first and second spots respectively with 14 points apiece.

South Africa recently had three points deducted by FIFA for fielding an ineligible player.
