From Noah Ebije, Kaduna
The Southern Kaduna Professionals Forum (SKPF) has called on the Senator representing Kaduna South, Sunday Marshall Katung, to seek re-election in 2027 election, describing his performance in the National Assembly as “credible, impactful, and people-oriented.”
The Forum also urged Senator Katung to seek reelection in any party since the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has not resolved it internal crisis.
They noted that the region could not afford to lose Katung’s incredible representation at a time the opposition PDP was still grappling with internal crises.
In a statement signed by its National President, Arc. Samuel Yakubu, the group said Katung had distinguished himself through legislative interventions, constituency projects, and empowerment programmes that had touched lives across the eight local government areas of the senatorial district.
Yakubu highlighted the senator’s role in facilitating the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, and a world-class science laboratory at Fadan Kamanton, describing them as “landmark achievements capable of transforming Southern Kaduna’s education, healthcare, and economic landscape.”
“We are calling on Senator Katung, come 2027, to seek re-election under any political party should the PDP’s internal wrangling persist. His leadership has brought significant development to our people,” the statement read.
The forum also commended Katung’s scholarship schemes for indigent students, empowerment programmes for women and youths, and rural infrastructure projects, saying they had restored a sense of inclusion in governance.
“These projects are not just infrastructure; they are investments in the future of our people. They will expand access to education and healthcare, stimulate the local economy, and create employment opportunities for youths,” it added.
According to SKPF, Katung had given Southern Kaduna a “strong and credible voice in the Senate,” with his legislative record and constituency engagement reflecting both vision and competence.
The forum urged political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and community leaders to rally behind the senator, stressing that continuity in effective representation was crucial to safeguarding the region’s interests at both state and federal levels.
“Senator Katung has proven that Southern Kaduna can be ably represented with dignity, commitment, and results. It is in our collective interest to allow him consolidate on the foundation he has laid,” the group said.
