Over the years, Nollywood has produced some of Africa’s finest screen talents; actors who have dazzled audiences with their craft and creativity.
Yet, some of these stars have since taken bold steps away from the movie spotlight, finding new passions and professions abroad.
The latest on this growing list is none other than Frank Donga, who recently took up a professional role in Canada.
Below are five Nollywood stars who now work in foreign countries:
1. Frank Donga – Canada

Known for his witty expressions and comic brilliance in The Interview and Hakkunde, Frank Donga (real name Kunle Idowu) has always been more than just a funny face.
He recently made headlines after revealing that he now works as a Multimedia Communications Specialist at the Ministry of Agriculture in Saskatchewan, Canada.
According to him, the move aligns with his passion for communication, creativity, and development work — a transition that’s both inspiring and strategic.
2. Stella Damasus – United States

Once regarded as one of Nollywood’s most talented actresses, Stella Damasus has been living in the United States for several years.
While she occasionally acts and runs online masterclasses in film and media, she has also taken up roles as a vocal coach, media consultant, and podcast host.
Damasus often describes her journey abroad as one of “self-discovery and faith.”
3. Jim Iyke – Ghana

Although still involved in film production, Nollywood “bad boy” Jim Iyke has largely shifted his base to Accra, Ghana, where he runs several businesses.
He is the founder of Burgeon Global, a brand management and event company, and he’s also invested in real estate and transport ventures.
Jim says his move to Ghana gives him “peace, privacy, and business opportunities beyond the camera.”
4. Georgina Onuoha – United States

Former actress Georgina Onuoha, famous for her roles in early 2000s Nollywood dramas, now works as a healthcare professional in the U.S.
She obtained a degree in health information management and currently advocates for wellness and mental health among women.
Despite her career shift, Georgina remains active on social media, sharing motivational content with her followers.
5. Regina Askia – United States

Veteran actress and former beauty queen, Regina Askia, was one of the faces that defined early Nollywood. She left Nigeria years ago and she’s now a registered nurse practitioner in New York, USA.
Askia continues to make public appearances at cultural events and occasionally hosts talk segments, balancing her passion for community health and public service.
