The women’s wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has unanimously endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement was made during the 2025 APC Enugu Women Stakeholders’ Conference, which also featured the unveiling of the state’s APC Women’s Wing and its official uniform.

The event, held in Enugu at the weekend, drew thousands of women alongside top party leaders and government officials.

APC National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile-Idele, who coordinated the endorsement, described President Tinubu as a leader whose “unwavering commitment to renewing the hope of Nigerians has endeared him to party members across the country.”

She applauded Tinubu’s focus on women empowerment, saying: “Mr. President is doing a lot to empower women. From financial inclusion initiatives to targeted capacity building programmes, the Tinubu administration is laying a solid foundation for Nigerian women to thrive.

“I call on all Enugu women and indeed all women across the South East and Nigeria to continue to support Mr. President and the APC. Let’s stand behind our party and our national chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwadta, in ensuring that our support translates into resounding victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027.”

Dr. Alile-Idele further thanked the APC leadership in Enugu and the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, for their efforts in rebuilding the party and backing women’s participation in politics.

Delivering his goodwill message, Chief Nnaji declared that the APC has grown into the dominant party in Enugu, overtaking the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“The leader and members of APC are now working to rebuild the party in the state,” he said. “We have moved from zero to something big, and we are now the largest party in Enugu State.

President Tinubu has shown, through the Renewed Hope Agenda, that women are not on the margins but at the very centre of Nigeria’s transformation. This is why we must continue to support his vision and work to ensure its success in 2027 and beyond.”

APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, hailed the women for their massive turnout and described the endorsement as proof of strong organization within the state chapter. He also pledged support for the Reserved Seat for Women Bill currently before the National Assembly.

“The women coming together to endorse President Tinubu’s second term is in tandem with what other members of the party are doing across the country. With the mobilization of the women and other stakeholders in the South East, I hope the President will secure more than 90 percent of the votes in the region in 2027.”

Enugu State APC Chairman, Ugochukwu Agballah, echoed the same optimism, stressing that the party had been repositioned to spearhead political transformation in the state.

“Today, APC Enugu has been re-engineered to become the very hub of political transformation and empowerment of women and party members in Enugu State,” he said.
