Abia police command said it has arrested 10 persons suspected to be involved in child theft and rescued 18 children allegedly stolen by the suspects.
In a release, the command’s police public relations officer (PPRO), Maureen Chinaka said on September 27, at about 09:40hrs, a complaint was received at Ohuru Isimiri police Divisional Headquarters, that a young woman from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, came to Aba with her two children (male and female).

The release stated that the woman was lured to Aba by a young man under the guise of marriage.
Chinaka stated that on arrival in Aba, the man asked her to get food for herself and the children while he stays with them (the children).
However, on her return, she did not see the man and her children, and all efforts to reach him proved abortive.
The police launched a manhunt for the man and this yielded off on October 8, when officers of the command, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a residence where stolen children were suspected to be kept.
At the home, five suspects were arrested, including Mrs. Best Ndubusi, Charles Enyinnaya, Eunice Ezekiel, Nnena Kalu, and Gideon Esther. One infant and seven children were rescued.
Again, on October 9, officers of the Command, stormed another residence along Aba/Owerri Road,Aba where more stolen children were kept.
Four suspects were arrested there, namely: Obiegbunam Von, Ezeoma Rejoice, Ngozi Owoh, and Favour Ernest.
Seven infants and three children were rescued, at the place according to the release.
On October 10, another suspect, Brittney Onyemuwa Zion, was arrested and a child rescued.
