ADC shakes Katsina, declares mission to dislodge APC from Government House

From Agaju Madugba, Katsina

The ADC on Sunday launched what may well be described as a political offensive in Katsina, vowing to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Government House in 2027.

The programme was the official unveiling of the new coalition opposition party which attracted a mammoth crowd of supporters from across the state, at the Continental Events Centre.

Some of the party chieftains at the unveiling included a former Secretary to the Katsina State Government and APC governorship aspirant during the 2023 general elections, Alhaji Inuwa Mustapha, and former PDP stalwart, Senator Lawal Kaita as well as a former Director-General of the NYSC, Gen. Marahazu Tsiga.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Katsina ADC Chairman, Lawal Batagarawa, noted that the coalition was borne out of the desire of not only to triumph at the scheduled 2027 general elections but to also “repair” the country.

He described the several years of the APC rule as dominated by insecurity adding that combating banditry will be the topmost priority of the ADC.

“We will fight terrorism and banditry which are the first things we will do because every part of the country needs peace and stability. Secondly, we will boost the economy to fight poverty.”

According to him, “since the inception of the APC administration, Nigerians have faced the challenges ranging from poor economic policies, inflation, Naira devaluation and insecurity. “That is why great politicians in this country said they will join hands and rescue this country from the APC-led government of President of Bola Tinubu.

“We cannot do that successfully if we don’t agree with each other accompanied by forgiveness, to forge ahead.

“This is necessary because in our journey in this politics, many were offended hence we need forgiveness among ourselves which was the first thing we did.

“We in Katsina State too have traded the same paths of forgiveness from all those who partook in PDP, APC, AC and any other parties who have indicated interest in this coalition and we all have agreed.

“Under APC-led government, insecurity has increased especially under Bola Tinubu. Due to that and if we want to repair this country, we must agree to work together and we will emerge victorious right from the House of Assembly members, Federal lawmakers governors and at the presidential elections.

“When we started this journey, we looked inward to see those with political credence and we mobilised and informed them and they gave their consent and now, the coalition has credible leaders to run it across the board.

“The leaders of the coalition will carry everyone along both those who were in the ADC before the coalition and those who are just joining .

“And, in Katsina State it will be shared to all the senatorial districts of Katsina Central, Daura and Funtua zones. We are doing this because everyone is important in the newly found coalition in the state and it is for justice, equality and good representations that the ADC coalition is known for.

“We will fight illiteracy. These are what informed our decision to form this coalition that will move this country forward.”

Also addressing the supporters, Tsiga said that, “I know ADC will do much better than what we have seen in the past political parties, in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

“By the special grace of God will defeat the insincerity of APC-led government in Katsina. I am overwhelmed seeing this crowd join the ADC coalition.

“I call on all citizens of Katsina and the country at large not to hesitate to join the ADC which is the only party that will save them.

“We are call on the people again to give us their support in this fight of rescuing Katsina.”
