Advertising czar, Tunji Olugbodi’s double celebration

By Funsho Arogundade

One thing you cannot fault about Dr. Tunji Olugbodi is that he is a jolly good fella. Personable, confident and enthusiastic, Olugbodi is a strong leader, a mentor, and someone who balances professional success with strong family values and spirituality.

The Executive Vice Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Verdant Zeal Group —a multi-disciplinary marketing and communications outfit with two international branches in key locations across the West Coast of Africa— is known in elite circles as a sharp-minded business mogul and tireless community development champion. He is a man of culture with a deep-rooted appreciation for African heritage and plays an active role in promoting cultural preservation and integration. His resume as a prominent figure in Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry is intimidating. Olugbodi, though born in Lagos State, proudly hails from Ara town—a community in Osun State now illuminated by the remarkable story of one of its own. Kings, it is said, do not confer honours on résumé. They do so on reputation. Oba Dr. Olubayo Adesola Windapo, the Alara of Ara Kingdom, seems to know what his kingdom needs: visionaries grounded in values, dreamers with deliverables. Olugbodi possesses all these attributes and on Saturday June 14, at a high-profile conferment ceremony, Oba Windapo — with full support from his royal council— conferred on Olugbodi the prestigious chieftaincy title of Asiwaju of Araland alongside his wife, Olabiyi Atinuke, as Yeye Asiwaju. This is no ordinary title as it’s one of the highest honours in the land, reserved for legends shaping lives and uplifting communities.

On that same day, Olugbodi also had the groundbreaking ceremony of his much-anticipated Tunji Olugbodi Production (TOP) Film Village and Resorts, located in the heart of the community. The sod-turning event, conducted by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, drew together traditional rulers, government officials, captains of industry, cultural enthusiasts, and well-wishers from across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
