More than 7,688 persons in Akwa Ibom State have benefitted from agricultural grants and other empowerment programmes valued above N10 billion through Gov. Umo Eno’s brand of constituency briefing tagged Town Square Meeting.
The exercise which had run through the 10 federal constituencies in the state was finally rounded off on Saturday evening in Nsit Ubium, which is the governor’s home local government, hence was called the Grand Home Coming.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor said all the beneficiaries of the programmes were harvested from the state’s ARISE portal where all job and grant seekers are supposed to log in their qualifications to avoid favouritism in securing government appointments.
He stressed that though theTown Square Meeting has ended, his commitment to serve all sections of the state is unwavering as the needs assessments off all the federal constituencies submitted during the exercise would be reflected in the 2026 budget.
The governor who used the occasion to highlight his achievements in the last two years, enthused that all the 31 local government areas in the state have benefitted from one form of project or another and at various stages of completion.
Eno threw his weight behind local government autonomy, but insisted that council chairmen in the state should reside in their respective council areas hence the proposal to build chairmen quarters at headquarters of all the local government areas.
He appealed to the youth to shun the habit of insulting their leaders, and asked the council chairmen provide land to the state government to build youth centres in all the local government areas.
In their respective addresses, the political leaders of the area, led by the member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium federal constituencies, Obong Paul Ekpo, expressed their appreciation to the governor for being a worthy ambassador of the area.
The people unanimously adopted President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno as their sole candidates in the 2027 presidential and governorship elections.
The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President-General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, Nteyin Solomon Etuk, who is also from Nsit Ubium, appreciated the governor for making them proud by providing impactful leadership, but urged him to do more for the people Etinan Federal Constituency, and the state at large.
