Nigerian carrier Air Peace has again lowered its economy class tickets from Abuja to London and is now selling for N448,500.

On British Airways’ website, the lowest available fare is approximately N493,500 ($329),which is slightly higher than what Air Peace is offering, while Virgin Atlantic’s cheapest ticket cost N1.458 million ($972). Other European airlines like KLM sell its cheapest economy ticket at N906,000 ($604) while Lufthansa sells at N846,300.

RwandAir sells at N404,600, which is lower than that of Air Peace by a small margin. Others, like Kenya Airways sell for N632,700, while Ethiopian Airlines sells for N759,058 and Air Maroc cost N768,521.

During its first anniversary celebrations in March, Air Peace commemorated the launch of its Lagos to London route revealing that since its launch on March 30, 2024, it has operated over 662 flights and transported more than 136,661 passengers in its first year.

When the airline launched its Lagos to London flights, Nigeria’s aviation sector was still grappling with high cost of flights because foreign airlines had blocked their lower inventories due to the fact that they were unable to repatriate their funds from Nigeria. This made the cost of flights to skyrocket as economy tickets were being sold for as high as N3 million.  The situation forced travelers to seek alternative routes, often traveling to neighboring African countries to board connecting flights.

However, the entry of Air Peace into the Lagos-London route brought some relief to Nigeria’s travel market as the airline’s prices helped to bring down the cost of flying between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
