From Lateef Dada, Osogbo
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has assured that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would win the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, urging the party to remain united.
Oyetola who spoke at his hometown, Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government, Osun State, yesterday, during his 71st birthday anniversary, noted that youths does not have to engage in thuggery before achieving something in life.
He said, “To the youth, I want you to be focused and dedicated to your work, fear God, for it is God who earned me the position I am today. I have never derailed from worshiping him.
“Don’t be involved in thuggery, we didn’t get involved in drug abuse before attaining this height. So, please stay away from drug abuse, because it only leads to mental health issues,” Oyetola said.
“By God’s special grace, our party will emerge victorious in the forthcoming 2026 gubernatorial election. I thank God for the way things are going in our party, how we have been able to stand in unity. I want to encourage us to continue in that suit and ensure that peace and unity reign in the part because that is how we can emerge victorious in 2026,” Oyetola said.
In her sermon, the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muhydeen Salman, urged politicians to always give the poor their dues, lamenting that people are suffering because politicians are greedy.
Speaking with journalists, the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland including Edo and Delta, Alhaji Khamis Tunde Badmus, noted that President Bola Tinubu has touched almost all aspects of economies but not much has been done on salary.
Noting that a labourer is collecting about N10,000 in Nigeria nowadays, the elder statman posited that salary of workers does not worth it.
He described Oyetola as a ‘competent’ Minister who is representing the interest of the president very well, saying that his impact has been felt by the people of the state since he was appointed.
“The only area which remains to be addressed by the Federal Government are the salary earners. The revenue has not been able to match up with the economy because if you employ any labourer today, the labourer will take N10,000 per day and look at someone in the Civil Service, he does not earn N10,000 per day, he does not earn N250,000 averagely that a labourer will earn in a month, but as time goes on the area will adjust.
“Look at the area of construction, development is going on everywhere, there is no state you go to in Nigeria today that you don’t see any development. So, this money has been plugged back and the people have been empowered. The only area that there is a drawback is this salary earners that the Federal Government has to look into. The economy is balanced, the Dollar to Naira has been stabilized,” Badmus said.
