The new National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has charged opposition political parties, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to stop wasting their time jostling to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election because there is no vacancy at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

Addressing hundreds of supporters at a solidarity protest at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, under the aegis of the APC League of Professionals on Tuesday, July 29, he highlighted the gains recorded under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu-led administration as the basis for his assertion.

The Plateau-born lecturer-turned-politician promised that the ruling party would ensure the victory of all its candidates angling for governorship, National, and State Assembly seats across the country.

Yilwatda, who described himself as the bridge between the old and the young, particularly cited the student loan scheme and several empowerment programmes undertaken by the Tinubu-led administration that have positively impacted the citizenry.

“The child of the poorest man in Nigeria can now go to school to the peak without borrowing from anywhere. The government has made provision for that. This is the only time we have had that in the history of Nigeria. Government has dropped N1.5 billion in the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to support young men that want to go into agriculture.

“Never before have we had this opportunity. We have the youth fund given for the youths. Never before has any government done this. And I can tell you that the opportunity for the young people is right under our President.

“What I can show you first is a thank you for this support, a thank you for standing by our party, a thank you for believing in this party.

“Our manifesto targets people like you. The Renewed Hope Agenda targets people like you. And I look forward to working with you to ensure that 2027 will deliver the President, will deliver the Governors, will deliver the Senators, House of Assemblies, and House of Representatives members,” he said.

The pioneer secretary of the Bayelsa State chapter of the APC, Marlin Daniel, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the Governor Hope Uzodimma-led Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) over the choice of Yilwatda as the national chairman of the party.

He expressed optimism that Yilwatda will surely deliver candidates of the party at the polls in view of his experience as a politician and technocrat of several years standing in the polity.
