Barcelona have matched an 80-year club record by scoring in 44 consecutive matches, the longest streak in their history, following a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday.
The match at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys saw Barcelona come from behind to secure the three points and reclaim the top spot on the La Liga table.
Real Sociedad took the lead in the 31st minute with a goal from Álvaro Odriozola, assisted by Ander Barrenetxea.
Barcelona equalised just before halftime through a powerful Jules Koundé header.
For Barca’s winner, teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, returning from injury as a substitute, provided a spark off the bench, assisting Robert Lewandowski’s header to complete the turnaround.
The Polish striker’s goal not only clinched the win but also extended the team’s remarkable scoring run.
This run, under coach Hansi Flick, began on December 21, 2024, after a 1-0 loss to Leganés, and includes 27 La Liga matches, nine Champions League games, six Copa del Rey matches, and two Spanish Super Cup games.
The team has scored 125–126 goals during this streak, which matched the previous club record originally set between November 22, 1942, and February 6, 1944, under manager Juan José Nogués.
