From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has described former President Muhammadu Buhari’s death as the end of an era defined by disciplined service and patriotic dedication. She highlighted his enduring efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign relations and to elevate the country’s profile internationally.

“President Buhari’s vision extended beyond Nigeria’s borders,” she said. “His support for the establishment of NiDCOM in 2019 underscored his recognition of the Nigerian Diaspora as a vital force for national development and global engagement.”

In a statement issued by Gabriel Odu of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, she noted that under Buhari’s leadership, Nigeria sought to harness the expertise and resources of its citizens abroad, fostering stronger ties that have contributed to economic growth and diplomatic influence.

Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians at home and abroad to continue embodying the values of integrity and selfless service that Buhari championed.

As the nation mourns, the Commission called on all citizens to honour Buhari’s legacy by advancing Nigeria’s standing on the world stage through unity and active participation in national progress.

The Commission also extended heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians during this period of loss.
