Ghanaian comedian Salomey Ankrah, known professionally as Sister Salo, has opened up about her journey to social media stardom, revealing that cyberbullying was her biggest initial challenge in the entertainment industry.
The artist who is a nurse, digital content creator, and philanthropist, has built an online presence. She first gained recognition in 2022 when she won the Best Actress of the Year award at the GHTEA Awards. The comedian has since expanded beyond social media, taking on television and film roles. She appeared as a ‘gate woman’ in the sitcom “Play Station,” which aired on Adom TV and Metro TV, and played a wife in the highly-rated Kumawood film “Poisonous Affair.”
Discussing her career challenges, Sister Salo acknowledged the demanding nature of content creation. “Cyberbullying was my first challenge, which I overcame with time. There are many challenges, such as hardly having free time because millions of people are waiting for new content. But the good part is that it paves the way for more fame and money,” she said.
The comedian noted that her parents were initially unaware of her entertainment career until they saw her on television. Despite the obstacles, she expressed pride in her achievements while maintaining ambitious goals for the future.
“I feel proud of myself for coming this far because content creation is not easy, but I fought for it and for the fame. I still haven’t reached my goal, but I’m super proud of my achievements,” Sister Salo revealed.
Sister Salo’s journey from a shy nursing student to a social media sensation with millions of followers illustrates the evolving landscape of African digital entertainment and the resilience required to succeed in the competitive content creation industry.
