Senator Ede Dafinone (All Progressive Congress (APC, Delta Central Senatorial District), has launched 2025 Urhobo Language Competition, for students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions in the district.

The contest is held in memory of the late Senator Pius Akpor Ewherido, who represented Delta Central in the National Assembly from May 2011 until his passing on June 30, 2013.

According to a statement released by Dafinone’s office over the weekend, the competition aims to promote and preserve the Urhobo language by encouraging young people to actively engage with it in both written and spoken forms. The platform will also offer students an opportunity to showcase their proficiency, writing skills, and fluency in the Urhobo language.

The competition is open to students enrolled in Junior and Senior Secondary Schools (JSS 1 to SSS 3), as well as those pursuing Ordinary National Diploma (OND 1 and 2), Higher National Diploma (HND 1 and 2), Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE 1 to 3), and university undergraduate levels (100 to 500).

The statement further urged interested students to seize this opportunity to preserve their cultural heritage while competing for prizes. Registration is open online at https://tinyurl.com/edeurhobo25.
