Edo Police Arrest Pastor for Murder of Seven-Year-Old

The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Pastor Ijebor Simon, 45, and Destiny Okojabhole, 23, in connection with the gruesome murder of seven-year-old Evans Okojabhole. The crime was reported by the boy’s father, John Okhojibole, in Irrua, Edo Central.

According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, Evans was found dead with his stomach ripped open, feet severed, and some fingers cut off. His body was dumped in the bush near their home 24 hours after he was declared missing.

The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Irrua Divisional Headquarters and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department in Benin City for further investigation.

Three Arrested for Killing of Vigilante Commander

In a separate incident, the police arrested three individuals, Ibrahim Agboje (also known as King), Yakubu Abudulkareem, and Kareem Audu, over the killing of vigilante commander Victor Ogedengbe, 50, in Erah Camp, Owan East Local Government Area.

Ogedengbe was reportedly murdered on his farm by suspected herdsmen. His death was reported by the chairman of Owan East LGA to the Afuze Police Division. Prompt investigations led to the arrest of the three suspects, who have also been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department.

Security Measures Intensified in Edo State

Following the killing of two farmers in Okpekpe Community by suspected herdsmen, the police command has increased security presence in Uzanu and surrounding areas. The Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Otimenyin, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and urged the public to report suspicious activities.
