The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Muhammad Samaila Mera has assured the Rotary Healthy Communities Challenge(RHCC) his maximum support to combat Malaria and other communicable diseases in the state.

Mera stated this while hosting the delegates of RHCC led by it Country Lead,Dr. Dele Balogun in his palace, Argungu town of Kebbi State.
It could be recalled that RHCC project,which is a three years project ,implemented by Rotary International and PATH, targets the top three killers of children under five years old in Nigeria: Malaria, Pneumonia, and Diarrhea.
They are into partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health , National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Kebbi and Akwa Ibom State Governments as well as Local communities.
While addressing the team, Emir Argungu noted that during the raining seasons,there are usually resurgence of mosquitoes which are agents of malaria, fever and other diseases.
According to him, “but with your intervention, these diseases would be put under control. We thank you for chosen Kebbi State and our communities. This is a difficult time to travel by air because of the weather at this period.
“We thank God for your safety and whenever you are going back, we pray that God will protect you to meet your families in peace
“I want to assure you our maximum support,any day , anytime,we shall support your initiative to ensure our communities are getting better “.
Mera said he had held a meeting with Imam’s and Community’s leaders on the need to pay good attention to the interactive with the RHCC team so that they could pass correct information to their people and report any resistance to him.
The Country Lead, Dr Dele Balogun, while speaking with newsmen after engagement with the Emir and Communities leader’s,expressed satisfaction over their large turned our despite heavy rain.
He disclosed that the RHCC have trained them on how to handle diseases like malaria, diarrhoea, pneumonia stressed that they would be going from one village to other in six local government areas selected by the organization to checkmating these diseases.
In his remark, District Head of Gulma,Alhaji Muhammad Bashar Gulma who is also Focal Person on Primary Healthcare in Argungu Emirate charges the Communities leader’s to take the campaign seriously so that the killer’s diseases could be reduced to the bearest level.
Men leader from various Communities in Argungu Emirate,Alhaji Saadu Abdullahi Gulma assured the RHCC and other development partners that they would take their task seriously for the benefits of their people.
Also, the women leader, Hajiya Zuwaira Musa from Augie LGA assured the organization that they would ensure they take the campaign seriously to reduce the death of children and pregnant women in their Communities.
In his remark,Alhaji Yusuf Umar Sauwa,the Kebbi State Health Promotion under the PHCDA, commended the organization for coming to the state to com
plement the efforts of the state government to combat the killer’s diseases.
