Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirant for the 2026 election in Ekiti State, has told his elder brother and former governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose, that the plans of the former governor and his cronies in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to forcefully secure victory for the ruling APC in next year’s election in the state, for it to remain in power beyond 2026, will not materialise.
The aspirant made the remarks in a press release he personally signed on Saturday, while condemning the statement made by the former governor on a television station on Friday, that the PDP and other opposition parties don’t have the capacity to dislodge the ruling party in the 2027 presidential and 2026 governorship elections.
The former governor had also predicted victory for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State in the elections.

Condemning the statement, he said, “It is indeed uncharitable and ungodly for any mortal or human being to play God and this is what former governor Fayose did.
“It is even more worrisome that such assertion is coming from the former governor and I wish to state that his assertion should not in any way be taken lightly considering the fact that the ruling party is known for subverting people’s will.
“I am urging Nigerians to be vigilant to the boast of former governor Fayose who has predicted victory for the APC, even before election.
“The people’s power is ultimate for the needed change and that the take it by force plans of the former governor and his friends in the APC will not work come 2026.”
The younger Fayose, who alleged that the misgovernance of APC has brought untold hardship to the people, said the ruling party will meet with the wrath of Nigerians in the forthcoming elections.
“The APC will soon face the wrath of Nigerians who are bearing the brunt of the misrule and no amount of defection from the opposition parties to the APC will save them.
“Moreover, those defecting are doing so out of fear and temporary lack and I am using this opportunity to urge them to stay back and join hands with other patriotic Nigerians to rescue the country from the misgovernance of APC,” he added.
The aspirant commended the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP for the swift reaction to the “irresponsible statement by former governor Fayose despite the fact that the party made him governor twice.”
