The popular ikeji Arochukwu Festival is here again. Eze Aro, His Eminence Dr Eberechukwu Oji has, on behalf of the Royal Palace, and in consultation with the Eze Aro-in Council, issued the 2025 Ikeji Aro ahead of the yearly cultural fiesta.
The calendar contains the gamut of traditional events and activities that would be carried out or observed during the 17-day period marking this year’s Ikeji Arochukwu festival.
Kicking off the line up of activities is Afor Okpo na aza Awada, which is slated for observance on Monday, September 8, 2025.
Next is Afor Mgbape Awada slated for Friday, September 12, 2025.
Activities associated with Afor ndulasa Nwaekpe are billed to be observed on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Other celebrations that would follow, according to the calendar, are: Nkwo Nku – Wednesday, September 17, 2025; Eke Agba Udu – Thursday, September 18, 2025; Orie Awa – Friday, September 19, 2025; Afor Awa – Saturday, September 20, 2025; Nkwo Nzukoro – Sunday, September 21, 2025; Eke Odu – Monday, September 22, 2025; Orie Egbugbu – Tuesday, September 23, 2025; Afor Osu – Wednesday, September 24, 2025; Nkwo Ekpe Ibom Isii – Thursday, September 25, 2025; Eke Ekpe Arochukwu – Friday, September 26, 2025; Orie Ubi lee Avo – Saturday, September 27, 2025; Afor ndula Nwaekpe – Sunday, September 28, 2025;
Nkwo Nwupu Nmayi na Ibom Isii – Monday, September 29, 2025; Eke nwupu Nmayi na Amuze – Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
While the lineup of activities represents a total package of the Ikeji Aro 2025 Calendar, the climax of this year’s festival is Eke Ekpe Arochukwu on Friday, September 26, when the 19 villages of Arochukwu Kingdom will showcase, in the spirit of healthy competition, the best from their cultural closets.
Besides, neighbouring communities and guest troupes are expected to also perform at Amaikpe Square, the kingdom’s designated cultural arena.
Usually, there are laurels to be won hence the various cultural troupes have reportedly been rehearsing in preparation for the momentous occasion.
