Farmer beheaded as Plateau community calls for enhanced security

Residents of Panyam District of Mangu local government area of Plateau state have called for enhanced security in their community following the beheading of a farmer in the area.

The farmer, identified as Ishaku Abalis was said to have been beheaded in his farm.

National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association, Bulus Dabit, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, stating that the attack occurred amid incessant attacks and kidnapping in the Panyam and Pushit Districts of the Mangu LGA.

Dabit who described the attacks as incessant called for creation of state police , explaining that local policing is critical to enhancing federal security operations, effectively tackling the scourge of unlawful killings, and ensuring the safety of all citizens.

He said “ Abalis head was cut off and taken away by the killers. The Local security outfits are aware. Sector Commander in Mangu LGA mobilise his officers and men to the site and is aware of the sporadic attacks on our people. DPO Mangu is aware. “

The National President also called for enhanced security presence to prevent the vulnerability of their region, urging for a strategic and robust deployment of security personnel to the most affected areas.

He believes that a visible security presence can deter further attacks, instill confidence among residents, and safeguard innocent lives from the lurking threat of violence.

While calling for deployment of security forces, Dabit called upon security agencies to intensify their efforts in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators of these heinous acts.

Spokespersons of Operation Enduring Peace and State Police Command, Major Samson Zhakom and DSP Alabo Alfred, respectively were not available for comments when contacted on the incident.
