Management of Geometric Power, also known as Aba Power, confirmed that a fire broke out early Monday at its premises in Aba, Abia State. In a statement issued on Monday, the utility company revealed that the fire started in a temporary building within the Osisioma Industrial Layout.
This building, once used by a now-defunct South African electricity firm called Group 5 during the construction of facilities, had been largely unused for over 12 years.
The statement noted that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, the Geometric Power staff were quick to act, containing the blaze before the Abia State Fire Service arrived. The management praised their staff for their vigilance and the swift response of the fire service, as well as thanking members of the public for their concern and support.
Geometric Power reaffirmed its commitment to providing constant, quality, and affordable electricity to the Aba Power Ring-fenced Area and beyond, emphasizing that such incidents will not deter their efforts to contribute to Nigeria’s socioeconomic progress.
