The Tynachomaa Charitable Foundation has provided free medical care to 500 widows and elderly individuals in Umuehie community, Anara, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
Speaking at the outreach, the foundation’s founder, Barr. Justina Chioma Ohaa, highlighted the economic hardship preventing many elderly and sick individuals from accessing healthcare. She stated that the initiative aims to assist “the poorest of the poor” and that 16 medical personnel, including five surgeons, five pharmacists, and ten nurses, were engaged to provide treatment, conduct surgeries, and dispense medication.
Beyond healthcare, the foundation supports 12 students through a scholarship scheme covering secondary to tertiary education and runs vocational training and empowerment programs for youths. It also provides palliatives twice a year for widows, orphans, and the less privileged while supporting agricultural initiatives.
Ohaa further announced plans to build and equip a primary healthcare center in the community, ensuring sustainable medical services.
The initiative was praised by Roseline Biamegh of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), who noted that it aligns with the commission’s efforts to engage Nigerians abroad in national development. Imo State’s Commissioner for Health, Prof. Michael Ubaka, also commended the foundation for complementing the government’s healthcare policies.
