Fulani group condemns killing of 14 traders in Bokkos, calls for lasting peace

Coalition of Fulani Registered Organizations in Bokkos Local Government Chapter, in Bokkos local government area of Plateau state has condemned the recent killing of 14 traders in Bokkos.

The traders were said to be returning from a local market on Thursday when the incident happened

The coalition described the killings as senseless and unwarranted.

In a statement signed by Alh Sale Yusuf Adam of GAFDAN, Alh Muhammad Gorte and Alh Umar Ori of MACBAN and Ardo Shagari Ardos Council Bokkos on behalf of the coalition, the group said, “We condemn in the strongest terms the recent brutal and senseless killing of innocent traders in Bokkos LGA.

“These acts of violence are not only reprehensible but also deeply hurtful to the peace-loving communities of Bokkos who have long yearned for harmony, progress, and peaceful coexistence.

“The victims were ordinary citizens who sought to earn a lawful living and contribute meaningfully to the local economy. Their cold-blooded murder is a grave injustice, and we mourn with their families, extend our heartfelt condolences, and pray that Almighty Allah grants the deceased eternal peace and the families the strength to bear this painful loss.

“We reaffirm our unwavering stance against all forms of violence and bloodshed. We believe that no grievance justifies the taking of innocent lives, and we call on all security agencies to act swiftly in investigating this heinous crime, apprehending the perpetrators, and ensuring that justice is done.

“We equally call upon all traditional, religious, and community leaders in Bokkos LGA to rise above sentiments and commit themselves to truth, fairness, and justice in their utterances and actions. It is only through sincere efforts and mutual respect that we can overcome the cycle of violence and mistrust.

The coalition called for immediate Security Action through the deployment of adequate security personnel to forestall further attacks and protect lives and property in Bokkos and surrounding areas.

They also called for an urgent thorough and impartial investigation into the killings with transparent communication to the public.

They also asked for the convening of inclusive peace-building dialogues among all ethnic, religious, and community stakeholders in Bokkos.

The statement added, “Justice and Compensation: Provision of justice to the victims and support for affected families through compensation and trauma healing programs.

“Sustainable Coexistence: Implementation of long-term strategies for peaceful coexistence, including inter-communal engagement, youth empowerment, and equitable resource sharing.

The coalition urged all residents of Bokkos, regardless of background, to remain calm and law-abiding, while supporting lawful authorities in their efforts to maintain peace.

“Let us all reject violence and embrace peace for the sake of our children, our future, and our shared humanity. Only through unity and justice can Bokkos thrive in peace.”
