Gombe APC defends Governor Yahaya, says errors do not define him

…As Opposition, Residents Raise Concerns

From Abdulrazaq Mungadi, Gombe

The Gombe state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed criticisms against Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, insisting that while he may have made human errors, his record of service and delivery stands tall above reproach.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Daily Sun, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Moses Kyari, said the governor remains a leader whose performance has spoken louder than political attacks.

“He is human. He might have made errors here and there, which is normal, but you can never find him wanting in the discharge of his responsibility. And as a party, we are supporting him. We are together with him,” Kyari declared.

The APC spokesman described the governor as a “good product” whose governance achievements are visible across the state. According to him, even staunch critics are compelled to acknowledge the progress made under his leadership.

“For us in Gombe State, we have a very good product in the person of Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. As far as democratic evidence is concerned, even if you are the devil, you acknowledge the fact that he has done creditably well,” Kyari added.

Opposition parties and some residents had faulted the governor’s policies, particularly the restriction on motorcycle movements, which many argue has worsened transportation challenges for ordinary citizens and their economic activities. Critics have also taken issue with the recently introduced registration and taxation scheme for both private and commercial vehicles, including motorcycles, describing it as a burden on already struggling households.

The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said Governor Yahaya’s leadership has only armed the opposition for 2027. “The governor has given us enough failures to campaign with. Gombe people remember what PDP achieved in 16 years and can now see the damage under APC and I believe they are ready to send APC packing in 2027,” Abdulkadir Ahmed, the PDP Publicity Secretary, told Daily Sun.

However, despite the criticisms, Kyari maintained that Governor Yahaya’s governance has advanced development and strengthened unity within the APC. He cited improvements in infrastructure, healthcare delivery, education, and reforms in the civil service as key areas where Yahaya has distinguished himself.

He emphasized that the governor’s style of governance has not only driven development but also sustained peace in the state and unity within the ruling party. “The governor is delivering, and as a party, we are proud to identify with him and are solidly behind him and focused on consolidating his achievement for the good of Gombe State,” Kyari stated.
