Gov Otu wants Cross River photographers to embrace tech revolution

From Aniekan Aniekan, Calabar

The Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu, has tasked photographers in the state to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in order not to be left behind.

Governor Otu made the appeal while flagging off a road walk organised by the state chapter of the Professional Media Content Producers Association of Nigeria.

The road walk was staged as part of activities to mark this year’s World Photography Day, which was themed “My favourite picture”.

The governor, who was represented by Francis Ekpo, the Director General of the State Electrification Agency, said, “I congratulate you for keeping hope alive with beautiful photographs and enjoin you to embrace technology.

“AI is coming, and the faster you embrace it, the better for the future. The future is almost here, so open your minds so you are not left behind,” he said.

He also charged them to work harder because of the upcoming twentieth anniversary of the Carnival Calabar, saying they will witness what has not been seen before. The governor equally thanked them for helping tell the story of the carnival to the world through pictures.

Also speaking, Daniel Williams, the personal photographer to the governor, tasked photographers to take advantage of the environment put in place by the governor to tell the story of Cross River State.

“If we don’t tell our own story using our favourite picture, no one will do it for us. The governor has given us a beautiful environment to get our favourite picture and tell our story,” Williams said.
