“This project, when completed, will serve as a vital economic corridor, connecting communities and boosting agriculture, commerce, and ease of mobility,” Governor Sule stated.
He disclosed that the contract for the construction of the road was awarded to Centerfield Engineering Limited at the cost of Nine Billion, Sixty-One Million, Six Hundred and Twenty-Seven Thousand Naira (N9,061,627,000.00), and will be supervised by the Nasarawa State Bureau for Rural Development.
Highlighting the impact of rural roads on economic growth, the governor said:
“Government recognizes the significance of opening our rural roads, as it provides the enablement for the transportation of agricultural produce and other economic commodities from the remote parts to markets in urban centres.”
Governor Sule appealed to host communities to cooperate with the contractors, protect equipment, and maintain peace to ensure timely delivery of the project.
“I urge the host communities within this road corridor to accord the contractor the cooperation and support required for the successful execution of the project,” he added.
He emphasized that the road project is in line with the administration’s broader development policy aimed at ensuring no community is left behind.
“It is our desire that we have a prosperous, secured, and connected Nasarawa State,” he declared.
The Wamba-Waiye-Dengi-Alizaga road traverses Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas and is expected to significantly improve transportation and trade links between rural communities and urban markets.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, traditional leaders, representatives of the contracting firm, and members of the benefiting communities.
