Grateful Ebonyi youths hail Umahi for good gesture

The Minister for Works and former governor of Ebonyi State, Sen. Dave Umahi, means different things to different people. To some, he is a super minister, connecting the country with roads from the fringe of the Sahara to the Atlantic coastline. He is also an investor in human capital even as his philanthropic credentials remain solid.

Recently, Umahi donated a brand new bus to youths in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State under the aegis of Adu Youth Forum (AYF) in support of their activities. Such gesture elicited excitement among the young people, who couldn’t hide their joy.

The leadership of AYC expressed gratitude to the former governor, praying that he will continue to move from glory to greater glory.

A message to the Minister, signed by Hon. Ene Odii Ogbonnaya, national president; Engr. Onu Innocent Chidi, national secretary and Nwaevo Nelson Nnamani, public relations officer, stated: “Adu Youth Forum (AYF) profoundly extends its deep gratitude and appreciation to our grand patron, leader and benefactor, Sen. Chief Dave Nweze Umahi for the donation of a brand new Hiace Toyota bus to AYF.

“We appreciate your continuous mentorship, tutelage, guidance and empowerment of the youths and your special love for us in Adu Youth Forum. Thus, our loyalty, fidelity and support remains unwavering, unalloyed and unadulterated to you.”

The group, which described Umahi as the Lion of the East, further stated: “According to a renowned writer Williams Shakespeare, some are born great, some achieve greatness, while some have greatness thrust upon them. David Nweze Umahi belongs to the categories that achieved greatness from sheer dint of hard work, dedication, fear of God and perseverance. He is an  engineer by training, politician by practice, an administrator by conviction.

“The opportunity resurfaces again to celebrate a man whose life has become a shining beacon of selfless service, unwavering integrity and uncommon loyalty. As always, we are celebrating his legacy, impact and purposeful leadership. We are happy to drink from the fountain of his human kindness.

“What set Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi apart as a patriot, a harbinger of Infrastructural development and selfless leaders is his quiet impact. While many shout their modest achievements from rooftops, he makes real transformation with little or no noise. Over the years, countless numbers of people have benefited from his purpose driven and strategic interventions which includes but, not limited to federal and state opportunities, political appointments, leadership mentorship and innumerable empowerment all given without expectations of public gratitude.

“As a politician, Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi has remained a relevant, respectable and resilient political firepower, from his early days as a state party chairman, deputy governor, two term governor, a deputy leader of the Nigerian Senate and now minister of works, he has consistently proven and remained true that politics and power are for the service of the people.

“Through his engineering proficiency and leadership ingenuity he transformed Ebonyi State from the often framed ‘Dust of the nation’ to the now ‘Dubai of Nigeria.’ He demystified and bridged the gap in our Infrastructural deficit by the introduction of reinforced concrete pavement in road construction which has been a game changer all over the nation.

“We’re celebrating a man whose work ethics and disposition to get things done according to global standards, international best practices and record time is top notch.

“An enigma, who in his short stint so far as the Minister of Works has performed beyond board in the discharge of his duties with vigour and vision.”
