From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri
The Agwa Central Development Union (ACDU) has distanced itself from a group known as Agwa Central Union (ACU) kicking against the proposal for the creation of Anim from Imo State .
In a communique signed by key leaders of ACDU, Collins, Ughala, Ethelbert Nze and Mike Onyekachi in Owerri, the ACU was not only regarded as faceless but also incapable of representing the community in any matter.

The ACU had earlier in a media publication insisted on being a part of Owerri and Imo refusing to be moved to Anim as a new state.
But, Ughala while reading the communique said: “ACDU denies the existence of the Agwa Central Union (ACU) and describes it as an illegal organisation without the right to speak on Agwa politics or decide its political direction.
“The ACU led by Benson Akunya and his cartel did not consult with Agwa people, their representatives in government or the political class before making the publication.
“The publications by the so-called ACU further show that they are in a quagmire over which state would be created, and they do not care. But, because they have a certain dislike for Governor Hope Uzodimma and his government, they hurriedly made the publications under reference just to spite the governor. “ACDU rejects the proposal and urges Agwa people and stakeholders to remain calm and calculated in their approach to the issue of state creation.”
The ACDU believes that state creation demands careful consideration, dialogue and a deep understanding of the implications and not a jamboree.
However, while calling for calm in the community, Ughala said: “Agwa leaders have not met to discuss the matter and have not taken a position on it yet. “ACDU urges Agwa people and stakeholders to reject the position of Benson and his cartel and remain calm and calculated in their approach to the issue.”
