The Imo State Police Command has arrested a landlord, whose identity remains undisclosed, for shooting a young boy named Paul. The incident occurred when Paul and his schoolmates were playing football at Urban Secondary School in Area N, World Bank Housing Estate, Owerri. During the game, the ball accidentally entered the landlord’s premises. In an attempt to retrieve it, Paul jumped into the property, prompting the landlord to shoot him around the waist.
Paul was immediately hospitalized and is currently receiving medical treatment. His guardian, Jonathan Odikanwa, expressed deep concern for Paul’s recovery, stating that while initial X-rays showed no bullet in his body, doctors are puzzled by his lack of bowel movements. Paul is scheduled for surgery to investigate his internal condition further.
The police have confirmed the landlord’s arrest and are conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident. This event has raised concerns about the safety of children engaging in recreational activities and the appropriate use of firearms by property owners.
