The National Rescue Movement (NRM) party has, at its primary election, produced a pastor, Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba, as its candidate for the forthcoming by-election into the Federal House of Representatives, Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the Labour Party (LP) member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Ekene Abubakar Adams, died following a protracted illness, hence the preparation for a by-election one year after his death.
Other political parties interested in the race had also picked their candidates for the forthcoming by-election in August.
The NRM party primary, held Monday, July 21, 2025, was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the National Headquarters, Abuja, and officials from Kaduna State INEC.
In his acceptance speech, the clergyman said the journey to rescue Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency has just started, adding that, “It’s starting on a great note, as we can all see that the conduct of this primary election shows that we can get it right in Nigeria.
“Nothing like so-called African time. Everything was orderly to the admiration of everyone here present. We can all see that National Rescue Movement (NRM), under the Chairmanship of Prince Chinedu Obi (Ohamadike), is set to also rescue Nigeria from decades of total misrule.
“Therefore, let’s continue in this journey to rescue Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency. Yes, we can!” he said.
The primary election was well attended by two delegates each from each of the 22 wards in the constituency, as well as other supporters.
All delegates arrived at the venue and were seated before the scheduled take-off time, and INEC officials were timely. The primary kicked off at 11 am, the exact scheduled time, and was well conducted.
