Katsina: How Governor Radda escaped death in road crash – Official

The Katsina State government has given details of last Sunday crash involving Governor Umaru Dikko Radda’s car and another vehicle, along the Daura Katsina road.

A statement on Monday from the Ministry of Information and Culture said that there were no casualties, noting however that the Governor and nine others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Radda was on his way back from Daura that evening after attending to visitors who were at the Daura residence of late President Muhammadu Buhari on condolence. The crash occurred near the School of Health Technology Daura.

The statement by the Commissioner, Bala Salisu Zango, noted that government would foot medical bills of the victims who are still undergoing treatment.

According to the statement, the crash occurred when a private Golf Volkswagen vehicle hit the vehicle conveying the Governor.

“No casualtied were reported. However, two out of the nine passengers in the private Golf Volkswagen vehicle got simple fractures while the other seven sustained various injuries and bruises. They are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre Daura.

“A delegation from the Katsina State government led by the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Culture, Dr Bala Salisu Zango visited the nine victims at the medical centre. “Their condition is stable.

“The delegation assured the accident victims of Katsina State government’s commitment to settling all their medical bills and expenses,” the statement said.
