Manchester United staged a dramatic late fightback on Saturday to secure a 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park, salvaging a point after a poor first-half display.
Everton, under returning manager David Moyes, dominated the opening half and looked on course for victory. Beto struck in the 19th minute after a chaotic goalmouth scramble, and Abdoulaye Doucoure doubled the lead by outmuscling Harry Maguire to head home after Andre Onana had saved Jack Harrison’s shot.
The hosts remained in control until Bruno Fernandes gave United hope with a precise free-kick in the 72nd minute. Eight minutes later, Manuel Ugarte drilled in a powerful strike to complete the comeback.
Everton thought they had a late chance to win it when Ashley Young went down under Maguire’s challenge, but the referee overturned the penalty decision after a VAR review.
The result spared United boss Ruben Amorim from what would have been his ninth league defeat in 13 matches, while Everton were left frustrated after letting a commanding lead slip.
