Mercy Chinwo Sues VeryDarkMan for Alleged Defamation, Demands ₦1 Billion

Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has filed a lawsuit against Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, in a new twist to the ongoing dispute involving her and record label owner EeZee Tee. The lawsuit, filed by Chinwo’s legal representative Pelumi Olajengbesi, alleges that VeryDarkMan made false and defamatory statements about the singer. According to VDM, Chinwo diverted $345,000 linked to EeZee Tee in his call-out, an allegation that Chinwo’s team claims is unsubstantiated.

In the lawsuit, Chinwo is demanding that VeryDarkMan delete his posts, retract his statements, and issue a public apology. The legal documents include emails, payment receipts, and other proofs intended to demonstrate that VDM’s allegations are baseless and have severely harmed her reputation. Olajengbesi described the social media posts as “libelous, malicious, spiteful, malevolent, and grossly defamatory,” stating that they have impugned Mercy Chinwo’s image and character.

This legal action follows recent court proceedings involving EeZee Tee, where a Federal High Court in Lagos maintained the arrest warrant against him over alleged fraudulent conversion, and the case was adjourned until March 6, 2025, for his arraignment. Chinwo’s legal team insists that VeryDarkMan had no involvement in the dispute between Chinwo and EeZee Tee, and yet he has presented the matter in a way that tarnishes the gospel singer’s image.
