A touching moment has gone viral, showcasing Cameroonian football icon and President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o, as he recognizes a former teammate who is now a security guard.
This encounter reportedly occurred following an Ecobank Group seminar held in Douala, Cameroon, as noted in a report shared on X by ED HUB, a news platform.
In the footage, Eto’o, who was surrounded by fans and attendees, was leaving the event when someone off-camera shouted his name.
Initially, he glanced back momentarily before continuing to walk, but he soon halted, turned around again, and recognized it was an old friend. The man, clad in a security uniform, stepped into the frame, prompting Eto’o’s face to brighten with recognition.
The former Barcelona player warmly shook hands with his ex-teammate, shared a brief embrace, and exchanged greetings in Bassa’a, a dialect from Cameroon. Eto’o appeared genuinely touched, repeatedly patting his friend’s arm as they reminisced together.
Turning to the onlookers surrounding them, Eto’o introduced the man, stating, “He was my colleague. I played with him.” This heartwarming moment has garnered widespread praise on social media, with numerous users commending Eto’o for his humility.
