The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has disclosed that unity among members is his priority.
Speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ hours after he was announced as the ruling party’s chairman, Yilwatda stated that he would put in the legwork to bring more governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties to join the APC.
“My immediate priority is that the party is united,” he shared, adding that he would implement the party’s manifesto to the fullest.
Daily Sun reported that Yilwatda was sworn in on Thursday in Abuja during the 14th meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
His emergence comes after the resignation of the former chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down last month citing health-related concerns.
Yilwatda’s appointment was ratified by the NEC in what is termed a “consensus-driven decision” aimed at uniting the party ahead of key political activities, including off-cycle governorship elections in Kogi, Edo, and Ondo states.
