NADECO Urges Rivers People to Resist Tinubu’s Emergency Rule and Wike’s Influence

The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) has called on the people of Rivers State to strongly resist any attempt by President Bola Tinubu to impose a state of emergency in the state. The group also condemned the alleged political interference of former governor Nyesom Wike, accusing him of impunity in the ongoing crisis.

NADECO warned that an emergency rule would be a violation of democratic principles and an attempt to suppress the will of the people. The coalition insisted that Rivers residents must stand against any move that could undermine governance and state autonomy.

Amid growing political tensions, NADECO accused Wike of using his influence as the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to manipulate the political landscape in Rivers. The group urged citizens and democratic institutions to reject any unconstitutional interventions and protect the state’s democratic structures.

The call from NADECO comes as debates over the crisis in Rivers continue, with key political actors taking opposing stances on the proposed emergency rule.
