The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has provided essential resources to 80 farmers in Osun State to boost local agriculture and support economic growth. This initiative took place in Oba Oke town, Olorunda Local Government, where NALDA distributed poultry cages, birds, and feed.
Empowering Farmers Through Poultry Support
Each farmer received two poultry cages, twenty 3-week-old broiler chicks, and four bags of quality poultry feed. This support enables the farmers to nurture the birds for about three to four weeks. After this period, dedicated buyers will purchase the mature poultry. The farmers will share the profits, allocating 60% to themselves, 30% to NALDA, and 10% to the host community. This approach creates a sustainable cycle of investment and opportunity.
Cornelius Adebayo, Chairman of NALDA, stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Women and Youth Empowerment. He noted the program’s innovative revolving poultry production model, which aims to uplift the low and middle-income class in Nigeria. Adebayo, represented by Mr. Owolabi Olusegun, urged beneficiaries to fulfill the terms of participation to ensure the program continues and expands throughout Osun State and beyond.
Additionally, NALDA coordinates stakeholders to deliver tangible agricultural outputs, including crops, raw materials, fishery products, poultry, and livestock. The agency’s network includes farm estates, partnership farms, infrastructure, and machinery across the nation. This network drives food security and revitalizes Nigeria’s agricultural export potential.
Moreover, this distribution forms part of NALDA’s broader effort to empower youth and women. The agency aims to ensure food and fiber security, promote responsible land use, and drive innovation in agriculture. By providing essential resources and support, NALDA fosters sustainable agricultural practices and contributes to a more prosperous future for Nigerian farmers and communities.
