Italian Serie A defending champions Napoli are preparing to hijack the deal for Ademola Lookman by splashing out €52 million on the Nigerian striker.
Luca Cerchione, a transfer market expert and renowned journalist, has chimed in on the summer saga surrounding Lookman.
The question now is whether the Nigerian-born player will ultimately join Inter, with whom he has already reached an agreement, or if a call from Antonio Conte could further complicate an already tangled situation.
Cerchione reported: “Lookman, Napoli has earmarked a €52 million deposit, a sum deemed appropriate by Atalanta. The Neapolitan club must decide whether to try and convince the player—who is more inclined towards Inter—to forgo their fifth midfielder, or abandon the pursuit of the Nigerian altogether.”
