The governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule, has dismissed the prospects of coalition African Democratic Party (ADC) and other opposition political parties posing any form of threat to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Governor Sule spoke when he visited the recently appointed National Chairman of the APC, Prof Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, at the party’s national secretariat’ in Abuja on Friday.

Governor Sule noted that he has never bothered or worried himself about the strength of the opposition parties in challenging the ruling party, noting that apart from being a conglomerate of splitter parties, they are also getting weaker by the day.

“I don’t know about ADC, it is actually, from what I was told, a split, not from our party, but from another party. So, if it is a split from another party, well, they are only getting weaker, you know. So, as far as we are concerned, we are not worried about that.

“We have never been worried about opposition, we have always been concerned about our strength and what we need to do in order to give back to the good people of Nigeria. And I think that is what Mr. President has always done.

“That is why all of us governors are doing what we can do best in our various states, in order to support our administration, and we have to continue to do that.

“Me, personally, I don’t pay attention to what the other parties are doing, because I am more concerned about what my party is doing,” he said.

The Nasarawa governor equally celebrated the return of relative peace in his State, claiming that it has resulted in the resurgence of optimum production of food the state.

“We, first and foremost, thank God Almighty that the insecurity challenges are not as big in Nasarawa State. The State has been relatively peaceful. Our farmers have been able to go back to their farms in the past three to four years. You know our farmers have been having constant improvement in agriculture.

“That is part of the motivation, in line with Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda on agriculture and food security that Nasarawa State decided to delve directly into agriculture itself. We acquired 10,000 hectares of land, last year we cultivated and harvested 2,000 hectares of rice, this year we added, we now cleared an additional 1,300 hectares.

“I think the Minister of Agriculture wanted to come and see it for himself, and that is why he came and expressed his appreciation for us, taking seriously the Renewed Hope Agenda on agriculture and food security, and that’s exactly what we saw,” he said.

Governor Sule equally used the opportunity to comment on the emergence of the ruling party’s national chairman, Yilwatda, describing him as the desire of the APC governors.

“The new chairman actually is another Renewed Hope Agenda chairman. He is coming at a time that somebody like him is needed. We, the people of North Central that have been agitating for the return of the chairmanship to our zone, have no complain now. He is in our zone.

“He recently visited Jos where he was well received by all traditional institutions, religious institutions, youth, women, all the elders. So, that’s exactly what it is. He is beginning to reform the party throughout the country. Already, the party is strong, it is just getting stronger with his presence, and that’s what we see,” he said.
