The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) will soon launch the “Irrigate Nigeria Project.” This initiative aims to transform agriculture by providing modern irrigation solutions to farmers.
The project focuses on equipping farmers with advanced irrigation technologies to improve crop yields, especially in areas facing water scarcity. By implementing efficient water management systems, NASENI aims to help farmers maximize productivity year-round.
During a recent briefing, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, highlighted the need to modernize Nigeria’s agricultural sector. He stated that the project will reduce reliance on rain-fed agriculture, allowing for more reliable crop cultivation.
The initiative will also include training programs to ensure farmers can effectively use the new irrigation technologies. By empowering local communities with these resources and knowledge, NASENI seeks to boost food security and promote economic growth in rural areas.
As Nigeria strives for self-sufficiency in food production, the Irrigate Nigeria Project marks a crucial step toward modernizing agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods nationwide.
