The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL) has reiterated its commitment to intensifying advocacy and engagement with the Federal Government to establish a more business-friendly legal and regulatory framework in Nigeria.

This renewed commitment was announced ahead of the NBA-SBL’s 19th Annual Business Law Conference, scheduled to take place from July 2 to 4, 2025, in Lagos.

The association also revealed that His Royal Highness, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, will deliver the keynote address at the event.

Chair of the NBA-SBL, Mrs. Ozofu Ogiemudia, highlighted the urgent need for substantial reforms in Nigeria’s legal and regulatory environment to promote entrepreneurship, attract investment, and drive economic development.

“Without clear and business-friendly laws, we risk stifling innovation and slowing down economic progress,” Ogiemudia said.

On the choice of Khalifa Sanusi as the keynote speaker, she noted that his track record in economic reform and principled leadership makes him well-suited to offer deep insights into the conference theme: “The Future of Business Law in an Intelligence Age.”

“His Royal Highness is globally respected for his bold advocacy and intellectual contributions to governance and economic reform. We believe his address will provide a powerful start to this year’s conference,” Ogiemudia stated.

Echoing this sentiment, Chair of the Conference Planning Committee, Ms. Solape Peters, underscored the long-standing impact of the annual conference in influencing Nigeria’s business climate.

“Our conference consistently challenges assumptions and prepares legal professionals for the future. The 2025 edition promises to be one of our most transformative yet,” Peters said.

She further emphasized the NBA-SBL’s unwavering commitment to sustained dialogue with policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders to create a more supportive legal environment for businesses.

“We will not relent in our efforts to ensure that the legal landscape in Nigeria supports ,rather than hinders economic activities and innovation,” she added.
