The Senate Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission, led by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, and the Managing Director of the NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, have undertaken an inspection of 32km of ongoing road projects in Cross River State.
The road projects comprise the 20km Okomita to Uyanga to Ehom Road in Akamkpa and Biase Local Government; 1.5km Idundu Junction to Idundu Bridge in Akpabuyo Local Government; as well as the 10.8km Aking to Osomba in Akamkpa Local Government, Cross River State.

“What we are witnessing here today is a practical demonstration of the NDDC’s renewed commitment to infrastructural development in the Niger Delta.
“These roads are vital evacuation corridors for commodities for our people. They will open up communities, boosting trade, and improving access to markets, schools, and healthcare,” Senator Ekpenyong said.
He added that the 10th Senate, under His Excellency Godswill Akpabio, remains committed to providing the needed legislative support to ensure that these projects are completed to the highest standards.
Senator Ekpenyong, who represents Cross River State’s Southern Senatorial District, praised Governor Otu for infrastructure development in the state as well as the NDDC Managing Director for resuming work in Akamkpa, Cross River State, barely 12 hours after celebrating his 50th birthday in Abuja.
The Managing Director of NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, assured residents of the Commission’s dedication to quality delivery.
“The NDDC is determined to deliver durable infrastructure that truly benefits our people. These roads will ease transportation burdens and drive socio-economic growth in Cross River State and beyond.
“We will continue to work with the Senate Committee and all stakeholders to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely completion of projects,” the NDDC MD said.
