NDLEA Arrests Indian Woman with 72 Parcels of Heroin in Kano

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 42-year-old Indian woman, Ms. Neetu Neetu, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano. She was found with 72 parcels of heroin, weighing a total of 11 kilograms, concealed in wafer wraps and packaged as chocolates.

The arrest occurred on Friday, March 14, 2025, during the inward clearance of Qatar Airways flight QR1431 from Bangkok, Thailand, via Vietnam and Doha. NDLEA officers, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a thorough search of Ms. Neetu’s luggage, leading to the discovery of the illicit drugs.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), highlighted that this arrest reflects a growing trend among drug trafficking networks to recruit foreign nationals to smuggle illicit drugs into Nigeria. He commended the vigilance of NDLEA operatives, who have consistently thwarted such attempts using advanced technological tools and proactive intelligence.

This incident underscores the ongoing efforts of the NDLEA to combat drug trafficking and the evolving tactics employed by traffickers to evade detection.
