NECO to release 1.3m candidates SSCE results on Wednesday

By Gabriel Dike

The National Examinations Council (NECO) will on Wednesday release the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) taken by 1,367,210 candidates nationwide.

Registrar of NECO Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi confirmed the release of the internal school results today to our Correspondent.

He debunked the insinuations by schools and parents that the council ought to have released the SSCE results last week.

Prof. Wushishi said the release of the school exam is based on the council timetable before the start of the examination.

The release of the SSCE results will end months of anxious waiting by the candidates who need it to process their admissions into tertiary institutions.

Specifically, many candidates whose WASSCE results were withheld or didn’t do well are banking on NECO SSCE results for admissions.

The anxiety of the candidates is further complicated because many of the tertiary institutions have started admissions.

Some candidates with high scores in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are required to upload the SSCE in the JAMB portal.

Of the 1,367,210 candidates, 685,551 are male while over 681,300 are female.

Kano State is listed among the highest number of registered candidates, with more than 137,000 enrolments, while Kebbi State recorded the least, just above 5,000.
