Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has said that the traditional rulers in the country has a great role to play towards addressing the security challenges bedevilling the country, adding that what is needed is proper collaboration between the government and the traditional institution to bring the situation under control.
Governor Bago stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora, Alhaji Mohammadu Barau Muazu at his palace on Thursday shortly after presiding over the Zone’s stakeholders meeting of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kontagora.

He expressed great concern over the unending security challenges within the Kontagora Emirate, expressing optimism that genuine collaboration between the government and traditional institutions would help in addressing the situation.
He maintained that the traditional institutions are expected to account for the people in their domains, and therefore urged them to take proactive measures that would curtail the menace while assuring them of his continued support.
Earlier, the Madawakin Kontagora, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad who received the Governor on behalf of the Emir, appreciated him and his entourage for the visit and pledged the Emirate continued support to his administration.
Also the Chairman council of Ulamas, Khalifa Sabiu Umar, commended the governor for his developmental strides since assumption of office, and his concern for the welfare and well-being of the citizens of the state.
Khalifa Umar then led other Muslim faithful for prayers for the Emir who is in medical vacation, the Emirate, the State, and the country at large.
