Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has urged the Super Falcons to go all out for victory against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco.
The Super Falcons will face the hosts in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat’s Olympic Stadium on Saturday (today).
Justine Madugu’s team is 90 minutes away from clinching a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
Tinubu, in a short video posted on the Super Falcons’ X account, charged the players to do the nation proud.
“My beautiful and lovely Super Falcons, I congratulate you and the officials for the qualification for the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations,” Tinubu stated.
“I commend your team spirit, determination, and professionalism demonstrated in all your matches so far. You are shining examples to girls in Nigeria and Africa.
“As you step out for the final match, I pray God crowns your efforts with resounding victory. Make us proud, our worthy ambassadors and champions. Nigerians and I are waiting to receive you with a trophy in your hands.”
The Super Falcons won their first two group games, against Tunisia and Botswana, before drawing with Algeria.
The West Africans defeated Zambia’s Copper Queens 5-0 in the quarterfinals and South Africa’s Banyana 2-1 in the final four.
They’ve scored 11 goals and conceded one in the tournament.
