NITDA Raises Alarms Over 56% Failure Rate in IT Projects

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has raised concerns about a 56% failure rate in IT projects across Nigeria. This alarming figure highlights significant challenges in the country’s digital transformation efforts.

Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director-General of NITDA, noted that many projects fail due to poor planning and a lack of skilled personnel. He urged for a comprehensive review of existing frameworks to ensure future IT projects are successful.

The high failure rate not only hampers technological progress but also wastes public funds. In response, NITDA advocates for better training programs and resource allocation to equip project teams with essential skills.

As Nigeria works to improve its digital infrastructure, these findings serve as a wake-up call for policymakers. By addressing the root causes of project failures, NITDA aims to create a stronger IT landscape that drives economic growth and enhances public services.
