Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi on Friday, paid an unscheduled visit to Bauch State, interacting with students and making donations running into millions to support their education.
Obi, who arrived at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport , Bauchi at about 9: 40 am, drove straight to the
Malakiya School of Health and Nursing Sciences, Bauchi, a private health institution.

After he interacted freely with the nursing students, Obi, who was in company with Acting Chairman of LP and former minister of Finance, Nemandi Sabo, and Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Salusu Ibrahim, announced a donated of N10 million to the students.
Handing the cheque to the proprietor, Honourable Aminu Mohammad Danmalikin Bauchi, Obi,, said his gesture was motivated by his belief in the importance of health to the development of a country
“You (nursing students) very important to this country called Nigeria. So whatever we can do to support you we need to do it,” the former governor of Anambra State.
“Today, we know that the number one measure of success of any nation is health and you can’t mention health without thinking of the human infrastructure that drives health. And if we talk about human infrastructure, and the foundation is nursing
“The nurse is more important than the doctor. The nurse is everything and it’s predicted that in 2030, the world will experience a shortage of nurses. So you are very important and so we need to support what you’re doing.”
Obi , who revealed that he visits 16 to 17 nursing schools annually across the country to render similar support , stressed the critical role nurses play in healthcare delivery.
Receiving the cheque from the LP Presidential candidate, the Danmalikin Bauchi praised the commitment of Obi describing him as great leader.
Obi also paid an unscheduled visit to
Intisharu Taufizul Quaranic Islamic School located in the Yelwa area of Bauchi.
An elated founder of the school, Adamu Suleiman Jibril who received the former Presidential candidate, said the staff and students were honoured to have him in their midst, adding that the gesture symbolise Obi’s empathy and love for humanity and education.
“We really appreciate and thank you for taking your time to visit us today,” Jibril said.
“We look forward to seeing your vision for our country and how much plans to engage with the youth in building a brighter future for all Nigerians.
“We pray to Almighty Allah to guide and protect you from all evil and may he shower blessings, success in all your endeavors”
Speaking shortly after making the donation, Obi said his visit to interact with young school children sounds a powerful message about the importance of engaging in young ones in both secular and Islamic education.
“We are here today because we value their voices and perspectives on the issues that matter most to our country,” he said.
