Ondo State Government Vows to Eliminate Criminal Elements

In response to recent attacks in Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities within the state. During a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that Ondo State will not serve as a sanctuary for criminals. He stated that while law-abiding citizens are welcome, those disguised as farmers to perpetrate crimes will face decisive action.

The governor called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents to maintain vigilance and collaborate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities. He underscored that security is a collective responsibility and assured that all necessary resources will be deployed to address the security challenges.

This development follows reports of attacks by suspected herdsmen on four communities in Akure North Local Government Area, leading to multiple casualties. The state government and the police have acknowledged these incidents and are taking steps to prevent further occurrences.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has also convened meetings with security agency heads to strategize on enhancing security measures across the state. He assured residents that their safety remains a top priority and that proactive measures are being implemented to ensure peace and stability in all communities.

The administration’s stance sends a clear message that criminal activities will not be tolerated in Ondo State, and concerted efforts are underway to safeguard the lives and properties of its citizens.
