The African Global Festival Nigeria (AGLOFEST) has received a historic boost with the acceptance of Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, as the festival’s royal patron and global ambassador. This significant development infuses the festival with the deep cultural authority and prestige that the throne of Oduduwa commands—a symbol of Yoruba civilization and a beacon of African identity.

AGLOFEST, a dynamic cultural and socio-economic platform, celebrates the rich heritage of Africa and the Black Diaspora by promoting cultural diplomacy, fostering unity, and advancing global partnerships aimed at sustainable development. The Ooni’s endorsement of AGLOFEST brings the festival’s mission to life by linking Africa’s historical legacy with contemporary global cultural dialogue.

Tunde MacAlabi, the convener of AGLOFEST, described Ooni’s acceptance as “a historic endorsement that reaffirms Africa’s leadership in global cultural dialogue and heritage preservation.” This announcement builds on the prestigious role of President Bola Tinubu, who serves as the festival’s grand patron and chief global ambassador.

In his role as royal patron and global ambassador, the monarch will champion AGLOFEST’s vision to promote unity among Africans and the black diaspora, strengthen intercontinental cultural, educational, and economic collaborations, and inspire future generations to embrace their heritage with pride. The Ooni’s involvement highlights the critical role of cultural leadership in shaping Africa’s narrative for the 21st century.

The inaugural AGLOFEST Nigeria edition, set to take place this year in Abuja, Lagos, and Uyo, will kick off with an economic summit themed, “Integration of the Black Diaspora through Trade, Cultural and Technological Exchange.” The festival will continue with vibrant cultural showcases including fashion, theatre, film, and gastronomic exhibitions, celebrating the diversity and richness of African and Black Diaspora traditions and their contributions to global civilization.

With plans to bolster Nigeria’s creative economy towards a $100 billion contribution to the national GDP by 2030, AGLOFEST is positioned as a strategic platform for economic growth through culture and innovation. The royal patronage of the Ooni of Ife strengthens AGLOFEST’s role as a landmark event in Africa’s cultural renaissance and global influence.
